Advanced Nursing & Home Care is proud to be recognized as a Parkinson’s Foundation Community Partner in Parkinson’s Care, becoming the first home care agency in Maryland to earn this designation.
This recognition reflects our commitment to providing knowledgeable, compassionate care that helps people living with Parkinson’s disease remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home. Through the partnership, our team and care providers gain access to specialized education, training, and resources that strengthen the support we provide to clients and their families.
Raising the Standard of Parkinson’s Care
Parkinson’s disease affects nearly one million Americans, with approximately 90,000 people newly diagnosed each year. As the number of people living with Parkinson’s continues to grow, so does the need for care providers who understand the condition and the many ways it can affect daily life.
The Parkinson’s Foundation Community Partners program provides participating organizations with education focused on best practices in Parkinson’s care. Training addresses movement and non-movement symptoms, cognitive changes, and other challenges people may experience as the condition progresses.
Through virtual and in-person learning opportunities, our team is building an even deeper understanding of how to provide informed, responsive, and person-centered support.
What This Means for Clients and Families
Parkinson’s disease affects each person differently, and care needs may change over time. Specialized knowledge helps our team recognize those changes, respond thoughtfully, and adapt care to the individual.
As a Parkinson’s Foundation Community Partner, Advanced Nursing & Home Care is strengthening its ability to provide:
- Enhanced education and ongoing professional development for care providers
- Evidence-based approaches to supporting Parkinson’s symptoms
- A deeper understanding of the physical, cognitive, and emotional effects of Parkinson’s disease
- More informed support for families and care partners
- Access to current Parkinson’s care information, resources, and best practices
This additional training supports our broader goal: helping each client preserve as much independence, dignity, comfort, and quality of life as possible in the place they call home.
Specialized Support in the Comfort of Home
For someone living with Parkinson’s disease, familiar surroundings and consistent routines can offer an important sense of comfort and stability. In-home support can make everyday activities safer and more manageable while allowing the individual to remain connected to the home, family, and community they know.
Depending on the client’s needs, care may include assistance with personal care, mobility, meal preparation, medication reminders, transportation, companionship, and other daily activities. Our clinical team works closely with clients and families to develop an individualized plan that can evolve as needs change.
When to Consider In-Home Parkinson’s Care
Families may begin exploring in-home care when changes in mobility, balance, personal care, meal preparation, or other daily routines make living independently more difficult. Additional support may also be helpful when a family care partner needs respite or when a person’s needs become more complex as Parkinson’s disease progresses.
Beginning the conversation before an urgent need arises gives families time to consider their options and create a thoughtful care plan. Advanced Nursing & Home Care works with each client and family to understand their priorities, routines, challenges, and goals. From occasional assistance to more consistent support, care can be tailored to help the individual continue living at home with greater safety, confidence, and comfort.
Continuing Our Commitment to Excellence
Becoming Maryland’s first home care agency to join the Parkinson’s Foundation Community Partners program is both an honor and a responsibility. It represents another step in our continued effort to strengthen our services and equip our care providers with the knowledge needed to make a meaningful difference.
We are grateful to our clients, families, care providers, and healthcare partners for the trust they place in us. Together, we can help people living with Parkinson’s disease receive the informed, compassionate support they deserve.
